MyFitnessPal alternatives if you care about bloating, not calories

Updated 29 October 2026

MyFitnessPal is built for counting calories and macros, not for finding which foods bloat you. If bloating is the problem, use a food and symptom diary instead: mySymptoms or Bowelle if you want the data, FODMAP Snap if you follow low FODMAP, or Ojafi if you want to be told which foods affect you and which are fine.

Why a calorie counter misses bloating

A calorie counter records what you ate and how much. Finding a trigger needs two more things: how you felt a few hours later, and when you ate. Without those, a perfect food log cannot tell you why Tuesday evening was bad.

Ojafi

Ojafi is our app, so weigh this accordingly. It is a food journal built to be read: you log meals and how they sat, and the iPhone app, in review now, looks for the foods and meal times that keep coming before a bad day, including the foods that turned out fine. It never puts anybody on an elimination diet. The journal works in your browser today, free to start. Recipes on Ojafi show calories and protein too, so you are not giving those up.

When MyFitnessPal is still right

If your goal is weight or macros, MyFitnessPal does that job at scale: it is one of the most-rated apps in the category, with 4.7 from over 475,000 ratings on the UK App Store. Some people run it alongside a symptom diary.
